“Being put forward for a promotion was a real confidence boost” – Magda

Magda Symula, has been part of the Cherrytree Bakery family for the past eleven years.

Starting as a Bakery Operative, she was soon cherry picked to progress to Team Leader, and then encouraged to apply for a Bakery Production Supervisor role.

“I would never have applied for a supervisor role on my own,” Magda said, “but my managers suggested that I go for it.

“Being put forward for a promotion was a real confidence boost and recognition from my superiors that I was doing well and had worked hard. I was absolutely delighted to be offered the job.”

Magda is now in charge of organising her team and making sure that all bakery orders are fulfilled and packed on time.

“It has definitely been a learning curve taking on managerial responsibilities but Cherrytree have really supported me and given me additional training.”

Magda has completed a L2 NVQ Team Leader qualification and IOSH health and safety certificates whilst at Cherrytree Bakery.

Before having her first child, Magda worked a variety of shifts but needed a bit more flexibility after starting a family.

“My son is over two now and the shift times mean I can fit work around my family commitments and allows me to take my son to nursery.

“They are also really approachable and open to feedback. I can suggest improvements that not only increase productivity and efficiency but also help my team and make their lives easier, so it is a great position to be in.”

“Cherrytree is a family business with a family feel.

“I would definitely recommend coming to work here and you’ll always go home smelling like chocolate chips!”
